Call for Proposals: ME’NA-ISN Research Award 2025 – Advancing Influenza Science in the MENA Region

The Middle East, Eurasia, and Africa Influenza Stakeholders Network (ME’NA-ISN) is excited to announce the ME’NA-ISN Research Award 2025. This award seeks to inspire and support young researchers in the MENA region in conducting impactful research on influenza or influenza vaccination. The awardee will receive €10,000 and the opportunity to present their findings at ME’NA-ISN Annual Congresses.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants for this opportunity may apply either as a Principal Investigator (PI) or as a member of a research team.
  • Applicants must be aged 45 years or younger (consideration given for career breaks).
  • Research must be conducted in a country within the extended MENA region or other network-covered countries.
  • Members of the ME’NA-ISN Governing Board or it Scientific Councils are not eligible.

Compliance

  • Applicants must comply with the policies on ethical standards, human subjects’ protection, data sharing, and other regulations related to research ethics.

Award package

  • €10,000 monetary award.
  • Free registration for ME’NA-ISN 2026 and 2027 Annual Congresses.
  • Oral presentations at congresses to share project updates and final results.
  • Mentorship opportunities and visibility within the influenza research community.

Application process

  • Submit a completed application form along with a concise research proposal.
  • Proposals will be peer-reviewed by an award committee of experts based on quality, novelty and impact.
  • Selected applications will be approved by the ME’NA-ISN Governing Board.

Proposal guidelines

  • Define clear objectives and deliverables, even if the research is part of a larger project.
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses may be considered; descriptive reviews will not.
  • Secondary data analyses are welcome.
