Membership application of new members will be approved by the Governing Board. The Association encourages and welcomes membership of the National Influenza Program Managers (NIPM) or equivalent, from the Ministries of Health (MOH) along with Influenza Champions (outside the MOH). Influenza Champions are prominent figure(s) holding widely recognized abilities in the field of immunization, public health, infectious diseases, sciences, literature, arts, entertainment, sport, media or other fields of public life with a widespread acceptance and trust by the public, who have demonstrated integrity, commitment, proven potential and a strong willingness to help voluntarily in mobilizing public interest in, and support for, the purposes and principles of immunization against influenza and/or public health programs.
There are three categories of membership:
1. Full voting members
Full voting members shall be individuals who are prominent influenza experts or renowned institutions in the public and private sector who are genuinely interested and active in influenza, particularly in the Region. Founding members are full members with full voting rights. All members (excluding founding members) must renew their membership on an annual basis by paying a nominal membership fee to be determined by the Governing Board.
2. Associate members (non-voting)
Associate members shall be individuals who are not actively involved in the practice, research and management of influenza. Such members may not vote or hold elected office. All members must renew their membership on an annual basis by paying a nominal membership fee to be determined by the Governing Board.
3. Honorary members (non-voting)
Honorary members shall be individuals elected to this category by the Governing Board in recognition of their contribution to the Association. Such members may serve the Association in any manner mutually agreeable to themselves and to the Board, but may not vote or hold elected office. Honorary membership shall be valid until revoked or terminated by the Governing Board.
